The article scientifically examines the legislation of the resettlement policy of the Russian Empire and the transformational processes in the economic, cultural and social life of Turkestan. An analysis of related scientific research to one degree or another revealed that representatives of different historiographic disciplines studied this issue from different methodological positions at different times. In general, a lot of research work has been carried out to date, based on the fact that a wide range of issues has not yet been considered, although a large amount of documentary material has been introduced into scientific circulation. Most importantly, despite a significant revival in the history of the country after Uzbekistan gained political independence, the most important aspects of the resettlement policy, along with all its complex manifestations, need to be studied from the point of view of the ideology of national independence.
