In the article, the author, based on scientific, historical and archival sources, studies the efforts of the Russian Empire to establish diplomatic relations with East Turkestan, for which the imperial government attracted members of the Imperial Geographical Society and military personnel. And also, in the article, the author made monitoring of information on the political situation in the region and compiled information of groups from the point of view of the colonial policy of the empire.
