This article focuses on the historical development of the native Uzbek language and its legal foundations. Also, the author analyzed the ideas of enlightenment on the works of Ibrat, Behbudi, Avlyani on the need to study native and foreign languages. The facts of UNESCO and statistics of linguists are presented and substantiated.
