The positive changes taking place in the socio-economic and cultural life of Uzbekistan during the years of independence have led to an increase in the role of cities in society, the location of productive forces, and fundamental changes in the way of life and culture. These changes play an important role in the development of cities in the Surkhandarya region. This article, based on archival sources and scientific literature, examines the achievements of the cities of Surkhandarya in the socio-cultural and spiritual life over the years of independence.
