Mixed-ligand coordination compounds of VO (II) and Ni (II) with glutaric acid and nicotinamide have been synthesized. The elemental composition and some physicochemical properties of the obtained complexes have been studied. X-ray diffraction patterns of the starting materials and their complexes have been obtained to establish the purity and individuality of the compounds. A sharp difference in the X-ray diffraction patterns of the complexes and ligands indicates their individuality and purity. It has been established by IR spectroscopy and thermal analysis that glutaric acid is coordinated to the metal in the deprotonated form tetradentately through the oxygen atoms of the carboxyl group, and nicotinamide with the participation of the carbonyl oxygen atom. A polymeric structure of the complexes has been suggested.
