In the article, a comprehensive study of working time has been carried out, as a result of which, using a comparative legal study, working time is considered as an independent institution of labor law, which is a separate set of legal norms governing this area of social relations within the branch of labor law. And also the centralized and contractual methods of legal regulation of working time are considered, the ratio of which provides greater flexibility and dynamism of labor relations in modern economic conditions. The methods of legal regulation of working time are considered as a system-forming factor (sign) of the independence of the branch of law. The importance and necessity of a centralized regulation method is discussed in detail, and how it is reflected in labor legislation. The features of decentralization of labor relations are considered in connection with the significant expansion of the contractual method that facilitates the inclusion of workers and employers in the process of creating legal norms. Working hours are analyzed from the point of view of the central institute of labor law, which establishes norms aimed at regulating the duration and types of working hours, establishing regimes and recording working hours, as well as establishing norms that regulate working hours when deviating from normal working conditions. The opinions of various foreign and national scholars of Trudoviks, whose works formed the basis of this institution of labor law, are analyzed.
