Worldwide, human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections. HPV can cause the development of malignant neoplasms, as cancer of the vulva, vagina, anal penis, oropharynx and cervix. Three HPV vaccines are currently available: bivalent (HPV 16,18), tetravalent (HPV 6,11,16,18), and non-valent (6,11,16,18,31,33,45,52,58). This article provides a comparative assessment of the effectiveness of the vaccines "Gardasil" and "Cervarix" in the fourth phase - at the post-marketing or post-registration phase, after the vaccine preparations have entered the market of our republic, assumptions are made about the advantages of widespread vaccination against HPV. HPV vaccines represent a promising primary approach to the prevention of HPV-associated malignancies. According to the literature, elimination of HPV infection is predicted at 80% global vaccination rates and benefits in reducing malignancy at 20% global coverage.
