Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). SPSS is the most popular quantitative analysis software used by social scientists. This is an IBM tool originally developed by SPSS Inc. in 1968. launched but was acquired by IBM in 2009. It is comprehensive, flexible and can be used with almost any data file. But it is especially useful for analyzing data from large-scale studies. In addition to complex statistical analysis such as regression models, it can be used to generate descriptive statistics such as means, modes, and frequencies, as well as tabular reports, graphs, and distributions and trends.
