The article explores and scientifically analyzes the concept, essence and legal nature of detention, one of the measures of procedural coercion, as well as the opinions of scientists and researchers on this topic. The features of detention are highlighted in detail, as well as its connection with the restriction of the rights and freedoms of the individual, its role and significance in ensuring the tasks of justice. Studied the need for detention, its grounds and application in urgent cases.
