Despite the improvement of diagnosis and treatment, the prevalence and death rate of bronchial asthma in the world is increasing year by year. Modern domestic and foreign studies on the assessment of the level of effectiveness of antibacterial treatment in patients during exacerbation of bronchial asthma show conflicting results. The evidence for the effectiveness of macrolide therapy for asthma in adults is not well established and remains controversial. We analyzed literature data to investigate the efficacy and safety of macrolide treatment for asthma in adults and found that macrolide use may help reduce the frequency of exacerbations in eosinophilic, non-eosinophilic, and severe asthma exacerbations.
