ABSTRACT In the modern education system, the study and teaching of literary studies has a special place. This article discusses the role and function of existing and new views, methods, didactic materials in the formation of knowledge, skills, and abilities in modern education. Samples of artistic works are presented and analyzes are given. In literature classes, the issue of instruction (presentation, handouts, pictures and photos, videos and audios), formation of the ability to work on vocabulary based on the unity of form and content in the implementation of text analysis was discussed. Another modern problem in the organization of literature classes is media literacy along with the use of media education tools. In the educational process, working with explanatory dictionaries in the field of classical literature increases interest in reading a literary work and leads to the enrichment of the imagination of classical literature, a deeper understanding of it, as well as the development of skills and competences in artistic analysis. For this purpose, examples of the experience of using dictionaries and working with dictionaries were given.
