ABSTRACT In this article, the author explores the role of abbreviations in the process of forming linguistic trends in the Russian and Uzbek languages in the media. The relevance of the topic is due to the widespread use of abbreviations in the modern language and the need to study their impact on language processes. The study analyzed the use of abbreviations in various types of media and revealed the features of their use in Russian and Uzbek languages. It was found that abbreviations have a significant impact on language trends, since their use leads to an increase in the processes of shortening and simplifying the language. The article also discusses examples of successful and unsuccessful use of abbreviations in the media and provides recommendations on the correct and effective use of abbreviations in the language of the media. The article also discusses the use of abbreviations in various contexts, including political, economic and scientific fields, where their use is of particular importance. It was noted that some abbreviations are becoming widespread and are included in the general lexicon, while others remain highly specialized and are used only in certain areas. In conclusion, the author notes that abbreviations play an important role in language processes and their use in the language of the media should be conscious and justified. The correct use of abbreviations can contribute to clarity and brevity of the presentation, but their incorrect use can lead to misunderstanding and difficulties in the perception of the text. The study of abbreviations in the language of mass media is an important step towards understanding language trends and the evolution of the language as a whole.
