ABSTRACT In the Uzbek literary language, there are syntactic and morphological types of indirect speech expression. The morphological type of indirect speech is expressed by such means as the verb stem + - (i) bdi, -adi (-iydi), -gan, -gan ekan, - (a) r ekan, - (a) r emish, -sin ekan, emoq etc. By analyzing the morphological means of expressing indirect speech in neutral, favorable, concretizing and ascertaining contexts, it was found that the meaning of audibility in these means is not the same. The article shows the similarity of the morphological means of the Uzbek and German languages with the syntactic means of expressing someone else's speech. The difference between the morphological type and the syntactic type is that the source is not indicated and speech verbs are not used. A comparative analysis is made on the basis of examples taken from the story of Sinchalak of A. Kahhar. Keywords: someone else's speech, direct speech, indirect speech, text, microtext, author's speech, message source, audibility seme, syntactic means, morphological means, speech verb, language structure, economy.
