The article examines the principles of selecting interlingual phraseological correspondences and the ideographic description of English phraseological units and their equivalents in Russian and Uzbek. Special attention is paid to the concept of equivalence in modern contrastive phraseology and to substantiating the use of the term phraseological correspondence when comparing phraseological units of genetically and typologically different languages. Lexico-semantic coincidence is considered the main criterion for establishing correspondences. Based on extensive lexicographic material, English–Russian–Uzbek phraseological correspondences are identified, and the stages of their classification and dictionary representation are described. The study highlights the importance of background knowledge, etymological commentary, and deideologization in multilingual phraseographic practice.
