The article is devoted to the study of innovation activity and international cooperation of the Department of the Russian Language and Literature of the National State Pedagogical Institute named after Azhiniyaz. Innovations in higher education should be ocused on the transfer of knowledge, on mastering basic competencies that allow one to acquire new knowledge independently. Innovative activity is, first of all, a condition for improving the quality of education, and increasing the competitiveness of a particular higher educational institution in the educational services market.
