This article explores the role and importance of water objects in the formation of toponyms in the territory of the Republic of Karakalpakstan from a geographical point of view. Oikonyms and local geographical terms (topoterm) formed from hydronyms in the territory of the republic are analyzed. Furthermore, a lexical-semantic classification has been developed the Republic's hydro oikonyms.
