Exudative otitis media is manifested by the appearance of a viscous fluid in the middle ear. According to WHO, 80% of healthy people have anamnesis revealed that they suffered exudative otitis media in childhood. The spread of this disease among the population ranges from 1 to 5% in different age groups and is more pronounced in the child population. At present, there is no consensus in the literature reviews about the causes and mechanisms of ESO development. But many authors have come to the conclusion that the basis for the development of EOM is a sluggish inflammatory process, together with a violation of the functions of the Eutachian tube. Clinical symptoms Mild to moderate hearing loss. Sensation of fullness or pressure in the ear. Popping or crackling sounds in the ears. Difficulty hearing and understanding speech, especially in noisy environments. The success of ESO therapeutic measures largely depends on the following factors: the timeliness of diagnosing exudative otitis media, an individual approach to the treatment of each patient, taking into account the identified provoking factors and their correction. Prevention of exudative otitis media or serous otitis media involves taking steps to reduce the risk of fluid buildup in the middle ear.
