This article analyzes the formation process and developmental stages of social work in Uzbekistan. It highlights the key aspects of improving social work education at the professional level, the significance of historical experience, and the importance of international practice. The article discusses the early stages of social work, reforms in the social protection system during the post-independence period, as well as the introduction of social work programs in higher education institutions. It also examines the development of curricula in cooperation with international organizations, the training of qualified specialists, and the retraining of existing personnel. In conclusion, the paper substantiates that enhancing the quality of professional education in the training of social workers is a crucial factor in strengthening the social protection system and effectively meeting the social needs of the population in Uzbekistan.
