Annotatsiya

This article explores the economic foundations and key development factors driving the intensification of livestock production in smallholder and household farms, with a particular focus on the context of transition economies such as Uzbekistan. The study is grounded in theoretical approaches to agricultural transformation, including classical and contemporary development theories, and is supported by a review of relevant literature and policy documents. The findings reveal that while livestock intensification offers significant potential for improving rural incomes, food security, and productivity, its implementation is often hindered by limited access to finance, weak institutional infrastructure, and resource constraints. The study highlights the importance of economic incentives, public support mechanisms, and technological inputs in facilitating successful intensification. Using a qualitative-descriptive methodology, the article identifies specific policy recommendations, including strengthening rural credit systems, enhancing extension services, promoting sustainable resource use, and supporting inclusive market access. The research concludes that effective and equitable livestock intensification requires coordinated efforts between government institutions, private sector actors, and smallholder communities. This study contributes to the growing body of research on sustainable agricultural development and provides insights for policymakers seeking to strengthen the resilience and investment potential of the livestock sector at the household level.
