Annotatsiya

In the course of our research, we studied the clinical and psychopathological dynamics of the development of mood-depressive disorders in adolescents. Methods: We studied adolescents aged 12 to 16 years. The total number was 240 adolescents. All patients underwent pre-psychiatric and psychiatric out-patient care in Samarkand region. Studies were conducted between 2020 and 2023. Children were first assessed in sixth grade (age M = 11.86 years, SD = 0.56) and then annually through 11th grade. The ethnic composition of the sample was 61.5% Uzbek, 34.8% Tajik, and the remaining 3.7% were of different ethnicity. Families were mostly working class (e.g., chauffeurs, cleaners, nurses, unemployed) or middle class (e.g., entrepreneur, teacher) with an average socioeconomic status of 41.67 (SD= 13.29). Results: The results showed that, anxiety and depressive symptom scores were positively correlated in each class and positively correlated across time. There were significant differences in the mean scores of depression or anxiety symptoms between boys and girls. Conclusions: Thus, this study examined the dynamic temporal relationships between anxiety and depressive symptoms in adolescence, from early to middle adolescence. We found that anxiety symptoms were a reliable predictor of subsequent increases in depressive symptoms over time in adolescents. This research has enormous implications for the resolution of many medical problems.
