Actuality. Disruption of the absorption of substances (including calcium) necessary for the body during old age and old age due to derailment of local neurotrophic and endocrine management and control causes the development of certain diseases of the musculoskeletal system (osteopenia, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, etc.). One of the most common causes of osteoporosis is intestinal inflammation [1]. Purpose. Study of morphological and morphometric characteristics of endocrinocytes of the epithelium of the mucous membrane of the small intestine of post-reproductive age rabbits. Materials and methods. The small intestines of 12 rabbits of post-reproductive age, which have lost their ability to reproduce, were taken as material for our study. Animals were euthanized and slaughtered in accordance with bioethical guidelines, and the small intestine was collected in coils and fixed in Buen's fluid. Results. If in animals of the reproductive period in the epithelium of the wall of the small intestine, the number of endocrinocytes in the field of view of the microscope is on average from 6 to 9, then in rabbits of post-reproductive age this figure decreases to 4 and 5. At the same time, it can be observed that the number of open type endocrinocytes is also reduced. When we studied the structure of endocrinocytes containing fluorogenic amines, the above-described difference between animals of reproductive and post-reproductive age was confirmed. In the endocrinocytes of rabbits of post-reproductive age, the level of impregnation also decreases, as a result of which the shape of the cells changes to a certain extent. Vacuolization of the cytoplasm of endocrinocytes is often observed. Conclusion. The morphological and morphometric features of endocrinocytes of the small intestine of rabbits in the post-reproductive period were studied. In the wall of the small intestine of mature rabbits, endocrine cells of both open and closed types are found. In the epithelium of the villi of the small intestine, endocrinocytes of the open type are more common, and in the crypts of the closed type. In the post-reproduction period, the degree of impregnation in the endocrinocytes of the small intestine of rabbits decreases, as a result of which the shape of these cells also changes to some extent. In laboratory animals of post-reproduction age, there is a change in the local diffuse endocrine apparatus of the small intestine, which can lead to a violation of absorption processes. This, in turn, will cause a decrease in the concentration of calcium in the blood, therefore, a decrease in the degree of mineralization of bone tissue, which may be one of the reasons for the development of senile osteoporosis.
