Annotatsiya

Abstract. This paper examines the major challenges associated with strengthening the feed base of desert pastoral livestock farming in Uzbekistan. The causes of natural pasture degradation and declining forage productivity are analyzed, while the potential of phytomelioration as an effective restoration approach is evaluated. The study highlights the introduction of promising forage species, including saxaul, teresken, camelthorn, and other halophytic plants, to improve pasture productivity and sustainability. In addition, the rational use of local artesian water resources for forage production on saline irrigated lands is discussed. The findings provide practical recommendations for restoring degraded pasture ecosystems, enhancing forage production, and ensuring sustainable development of livestock farming in arid regions.
