This study presents a theoretical and experimental investigation of the static deflection of a beam interacting with a soil foundation based on the Winkler model and Vlasov’s variational method. In the Winkler model, the soil foundation is represented by the stiffness coefficient \(k\), whereas in the Vlasov model it is described as a layered medium approximated by the function \(\psi(y)\). The differential equations developed for both models and their analytical solutions are presented. Laboratory experiments were conducted using a steel beam and crushed stone, where beam deflections were measured under different external loads \(P_0\). The results demonstrate that the Vlasov model more accurately represents the influence of the soil under real conditions, whereas the Winkler model provides a simplified engineering approximation.
