The article examines current trends and problems of commercialization of innovative products created in public higher education institutions. Special attention is paid to the theoretical aspects of the commercialization of academia, the interaction of science, education and business, as well as the mechanisms of technology transfer. Domestic and foreign approaches to the integration of science and innovation into the system of socio-economic development are analyzed, the main barriers and prospects are identified.
