The article deals with the problem of the development of speech activity of mentally retarded students on the basis of visual aids. The article describes the characteristics of students with intellectual disabilities, the results of studying the methodology. At the same time, recommendations are given on ways to overcome speech defects in children with intellectual disabilities.
