This article depicts the lexical meaning of a term 'modus' in linguistics. The etymology of the term ‘modus of the text’ has been studied; and the reflection of modus in text has been analyzed. Ways of expressing modus in Uzbek publicistic texts have been investigated by scanning several publicistic articles published in newspapers and magazines. As a result of the study, conclusions have been drawn about realizing texts subjectively by authors on the basis of the use of linguistic, extralinguistic and artistic means in texts.
