This article examines the processes of formation and development of historiographical research in Uzbekistan from the 1920s-1930s to the present day. It analyzes the emergence of the first comprehensive works, the establishment of historiography as an independent scientific discipline in the 1950s-1960s, and the creation of the “Historiography” Department at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan in 1968. The article particularly emphasizes the contributions of scholars such as V.V. Lunin, G.I. Zheltova, and F.Kh. Kasimov to the development of historiography. The study explores the methodological improvement of historiography in Uzbekistan, a new stage of scientific research, the disclosure of archival sources,and the enrichment of theoretical approaches.
