This article analyzes the formation and development of the Tea Road in Central Asia based on archival sources and historical materials. It highlights that tea was initially transported from China via the Great Silk Road, and by the 18th–19th centuries, it had evolved into an independent trade route. The study also examines the development of tea trade in major cities of the region, some of which became centers of wholesale trade. Furthermore, the article discusses the import of various types of tea from China and India, as well as the role of the Russian Empire in regulating the tea trade through the involvement of Russian merchants.
