This article analyzes the use of steganography and digital watermarking (DW) methods in protecting copyright and intellectual property of digital multimedia data. General schemes for placing and extracting digital watermarks, the resistance of steganographic systems to information attacks are studied. Also, additive, multiplicative and quantization-based coding algorithms for placing digital watermarks in the spatial and transformation domains and their specific advantages are highlighted
