Annotatsiya

This article analyzes Martin Hartmann’s work in the context of the study of the heritage of Alisher Navoi, set against the backdrop of scientific trends observed in European Orientalism during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The philological methods used by Hartmann in working with Chigatai texts, the principles of analyzing poetic structures, and the lexical and stylistic solutions observed in translating Navoi’s works into German are identified. The issues of content accuracy in translations, the preservation of semantic layers, and the transfer of poetic images are evaluated through a comparative approach. The connection between Hartmann’s work and German orientalism of the time, and the influence of his scientific heritage on the development of Turkology and non-traditional studies, are also highlighted. According to the results of the study, Martin Hartmann's translations were an essential tool for introducing Navoi’s works into the European scientific environment and were evaluated as a component of the scientific processes that laid the foundation for the formation of new directions in Orientalism.
