The quality of historical documents related to fields such as art, architecture, mathematics, astronomy, astrology, law, music, and medicine, which were written hundreds of years ago and are still preserved by libraries and universities, is low due to physical wear and tear. To improve the readability of manuscripts and preserve the valuable information they contain, it is necessary to use digital image processing methods. Aging processes often lead to an uneven distribution of the background color on the image surface and a darkening of the background, which reduces the contrast between the text and the background. A similar problem also arises during the process of digitizing manuscripts. The proposed methodology aims to significantly improve the quality of historical manuscripts using fuzzy logic methods. These manuscripts have problems such as background unevenness, low contrast, and blurred contours resulting from traditional production methods and distortions that have occurred over time.
