The article examines the meaning, theoretical foundations, and main types of innovative teaching technologies. It discusses theopportunities and limitations of active learning, problem-based and project-based learning, experiential learning, constructionism,CDIO, TPACK, blended learning, flipped classrooms, design thinking, and gamification in technical higher education. The paperis a theoretical review based on comparative analysis and synthesis of academic literature; it does not report newly conductedempirical experiments or surveys. A pedagogical integration model and selection criteria are proposed for combining theseapproaches with engineering competitions and hackathons at technical universities.
