This article analyzes the historical and legal foundations of regulating marriage and family relations in the Emirate of Bukhara. It examines Sharia norms, the practice of qadi courts, marriage and wedding ceremonies, as well as the views of Jadids in the early twentieth century on reforming family relations. Particular attention is paid to the measures taken by Amir Said Alim Khan to limit excessive spending on weddings and family ceremonies. The study demonstrates that marriage and family relations in the Emirate of Bukhara developed through the interaction of Sharia norms, local customs, and state administrative practices.
