This article presents up-to-date information on the diagnosis and treatment of various forms of anorectal malformations inchildren. During the initial examination of children with anorectal malformation, the authors recommend the following sequenceof actions: examination of the esophagus to exclude atresia of the esophagus; general X-ray of the abdominal organs in direct orlateral projections to exclude duodenal atresia, enlarged intestinal atresia. spinal cord and sacrum; echocardiography for thedetection of concomitant heart defects and large vessels (occurs in 30% of newborns with AM); ultrasound of the kidneys andbladder. Before surgery, it is recommended to determine the sacral index to determine the prognosis of the functional state of thepelvic organs, since a visual assessment of the state of the sacrum and coccyx (counting the number of vertebrae) in most casesdoes not allow a quantitative assessment of the detected changes. At the stage of treatment in the Polyclinic, issues ofpostoperative rehabilitation of patients are discussed.
