This review presents the downy mildew of grapes, including information about its causative agent, distribution, development, impact on yield, and control. When we analyzed deeply the information provided by world plant pathologists, it became clear that P. viticola is an obligate parasite that infects all green parts of the vine and is one of the main pathogens of the vine. Air temperature from 6 to 26 °C and relative air humidity above 90% is optimal for the development of the disease. As a result of the strong development of the disease, productivity can decrease up to 40-90%.
