The article examines the theoretical and methodological foundations of evaluating and analysing hotel business efficiency. The role of hotel business in the tourism system and the content of the economic category “efficiency” are disclosed; efficiency is substantiated as a multidimensional phenomenon, broader than the concepts of “effectiveness” and “productivity”. A comparative analysis is carried out of the evolution of efficiency evaluation concepts (from classical theory to frontier, integral and digital methods), the main theoretical approaches (resource, cost-result, process, value and quality) and frontier analysis methods (DEA and SFA). As a result of the research, an integral approach based on a five-group classification of efficiency indicators is theoretically substantiated, constituting the methodological basis for the comprehensive assessment of hotel efficiency.
