The paper presents a fuzzy-logic model for assessing the durability criterion of roller sections in the secondary cooling zone of a continuous casting machine. It is a chain of three fuzzy controllers with casting speed, water flow, casting temperature and number of heats as inputs. Simulation results support condition-based maintenance planning.
