Linguistic features of translating financial and customs documentation into Russian and uzbek

Annotatsiya

The translation of financial and customs documentation represents a specialized area of professional translation in which linguistic accuracy, terminological consistency, legal precision, and functional adequacy are of particular importance. Such documents are characterized by a high degree of standardization, the extensive use of specialized terminology, fixed lexical and syntactic patterns, abbreviations, and legally significant formulations. This article examines the principal linguistic features involved in translating financial and customs documentation from English into Russian and Uzbek, with particular attention to lexical, terminological, phraseological, syntactic, and stylistic aspects. The study focuses on such document types as commercial contracts, loan agreements, invoices, financial statements, customs declarations, and other official business documents. Particular emphasis is placed on the difficulties associated with establishing accurate terminological equivalents and maintaining consistency across multilingual documents. The analysis also considers differences between Russian and Uzbek in grammatical structure, word formation, syntactic organization, and the expression of legal and financial concepts. The study demonstrates that successful translation in this domain requires not only bilingual competence but also specialized knowledge of financial and customs terminology, legal conventions, institutional discourse, and the communicative function of documentary texts. The findings contribute to a better understanding of English–Russian–Uzbek specialized translation and may be useful for translators, linguists, researchers, customs professionals, financial specialists, and translators working with official and commercial documentation.
