Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a serious public health problem due to the unpredictable course of the disease and complications arising from the lack of timely diagnosis and treatment. According to available data, the average incidence of end-stage CKD in children under 16 years of age is 1-3 cases per 1 million children annually [1-4]. The criteria for the diagnosis and staging of CKD in children were adapted by KDIGO in 2012 [5]. The diagnosis of CKD is based on clinical markers of kidney damage detected when the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) decreases to less than 60 ml/min/1.73 m² for 3 months or more, in the presence of laboratory and instrumental signs of irreversible structural and morphological changes in the kidney tissue. In addition, changes in blood biochemical tests (urea, creatinine, urea nitrogen, etc.) and urine tests (leukocyturia, erythrocyturia, proteinuria, albuminuria, etc.) are also considered.
