This publication outlines the main tasks of information and librarianship, formulated in the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On information and library activities» in the context of the issue of library ethics, examines the activities of library specialists based on the moral values of the librarian profession, its positive personal qualities. The principles of ethical standards are revealed, as well as important components of the professional ethics of a modern librarian, thanks to which the status of an information and library institution and the prestige of the library profession are increased. The authors of the article talk about the Librarian’s Code of Ethics and its significance in shaping the professional consciousness of a librarian.
