Understanding the current trends in international relations requires research on regionalism and regional security. The Central Asian region is currently developing into a significant component of the international relations system, where the interests of nearly all of the world's major nations collide. In this regard, the global community's interest in the region's scientific study, its political processes, and the countries in the region's desire to collaborate outside of Central Asia are all growing. The purpose of this scientific article is to analyze the current intra-regional processes in Central Asia, the role of the Republic of Uzbekistan in these processes, as well as its participation in the interregional cooperation of the region. A distinctive feature of this work is that it studied the regional and interregional activities of the Republic of Uzbekistan after 2016. Also, the paper considers such issues as the delimitation of state borders in the region, the construction of the Trans-Afghan Railway, the International North-South Transport Corridor, the revival of the Great Silk Road, the format of Central – South Asia, regional security and the stability of Afghanistan.
