Relevance. Myopia is recognized as a major global ophthalmological problem that is expected to affect an increasing number of people in the coming decades. Purpose of the study. To evaluate the efficiency of a drug from the group of carbonic anhydrase inhibitors - 1% brinzolamide solution - on the biometric parameters of the eye in patients with progressive myopia. Material and methods. A comprehensive study was conducted on 47 (94 eyes) patients with progressive myopia who were given the hypotensive drug of 1% brinzolamide solution to determine its effect on the biometric parameters of the eye. Results and conclusion. On the base of the hypotensive drug of 1% brinzolamide solution, a decrease in the IOP level was noted, which amounted to 16.4 ± 2.2 mm Hg with an average degree of myopia and 18.7 ± 2.1 mm Hg with a high degree of myopia, a decrease in the axial length of the eye along the sagittal axis with an average degree by 0.21 ± 0.05 mm (P ≤ 0.05) and with a high degree by 0.34 ± 0.06 mm (P ≤ 0.05) from the initial values, a decrease in clinical refraction was also noted, with a high degree by 0.57 ± 0.09 D and with an average by 0.46 ± 0.04 D (P ≤ 0.05) from the initial values.
