Annotatsiya

Amblyopia is a neurodevelopmental disorder in the visual cortex resulting from abnormal visual perception at an early age. Amblyopia is the leading cause of visual impairment in infants and young children (prevalence about 3.5%). There are various treatment options for amblyopia, depending on its severity and the age of the patient. Traditional treatments include bandage or occlusion of the dominant eye and pharmacologic debridement using atropine (1%). Recent developments in the treatment of amblyopia have been successful with the use of binocular exercises and certain modifications to glasses and contact lenses. The critical age until which amblyopia is curable or reversible is also increasing due to additional research. With new advances in amblyopia therapy, the success rate is also improving with a multimodal approach.
