The accelerating pace of digital transformation is fundamentally reshaping quality management systems (QMS)across industries, necessitating a comprehensive theoretical and empirical re-examination of established frameworks. Thispaper investigates the developmental trajectory of QMS in the context of digital transformation, with particular emphasison the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, digital twin technologies, and cloudbasedplatforms into quality governance architectures. Grounded in the Total Quality Management (TQM) framework, theISO 9001:2015 risk-based process approach, and the dynamic capabilities perspective, the study proposes a five-levelDigital Quality Management System (DQMS) Maturity Model as a novel methodological instrument for assessing andguiding organisational digital quality transitions. A mixed-methods research design — combining systematic literaturesynthesis, expert Delphi weighting (n = 34), and a structured survey of 312 quality and operations professionals acrossmanufacturing, services, and technology sectors in 11 countries — was employed to validate the model empirically
