Annotatsiya

tic disorders are among the most common hyperkinetic movement disorders in childhood and may significantly impair psychosocial functioning and quality of life. In cases of focal motor tics resistant to conventional pharmacotherapy, botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) has emerged as a targeted therapeutic option aimed at reducing excessive muscle activity. Objective - To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of BoNT-A therapy in pediatric patients with focal tic disorders using dynamic neurological assessment and standardized tic severity scales. The study included 62 children with verified focal tic disorders treated at a specialized pediatric neurology department in Tashkent. Diagnosis was established according to ICD-10 criteria. All patients received intramuscular injections of BoNT-A into target muscles involved in hyperkinetic activity. Clinical outcomes were assessed at multiple follow-up points (days 3, 10, and 20, and one month after injection). Tic severity was evaluated using the Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS). Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Clinically significant improvement was observed in 77.4% of patients, with maximal therapeutic effect between days 10 and 20. Mean YGTSS scores decreased significantly compared with baseline (p < 0.05). Adverse events were mild and transient. BoNT-A therapy is an effective and safe treatment option for focal tic disorders in children, particularly in patients with insufficient response to conventional pharmacotherapy.
