This article discusses the reasons for the creation of the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan and its activities today. At the same time, the goals and objectives of the departments that operated in the early days of the museum's existence, the formation of such museum funds as numismatics, archeology, ethnography as a result of expeditions organized by the museum staff, as well as the number of exhibits stored in each of them, are given today.
