This scientific article investigates the issues of improving the process of preparing 800-metre runners training in educational and training groups for sports competitions. The 800-metre run is one of the complex events of athletics and requires from the athlete a high level of speed, special endurance and tactical preparation. In the course of the research, methodological approaches aimed at planning training loads, developing speed and endurance qualities and increasing adaptation to competitive activity were applied. The results obtained on the basis of the analysis of scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical observation and control tests showed that the systematic introduction of specially targeted exercises into the training process significantly improves the results of athletes. The conclusions of the research are of practical importance in optimising the process of preparing 800-metre runners in educational and training groups.
