The present research work is prompted by the pressing need for a thorough study of the range of questions connected with the problem of teaching students Russian as a foreign language in comparison with the learners' native language at non-linguistic higher education institutions of Uzbekistan, including universities of the engineering and technical profile. Using concrete examples from the author's many years of work experience and experiments, the features of practical work in the field of teaching Russian as a foreign language (RFL) in comparison with the students' native (Uzbek) language are examined.
