The article reveals the problems of local hemostasis in surgery and presents data from studies of the last 20 years on the use of hemostatic implants. The latest achievements and agents used in laparoscopic and traditional surgery to achieve adequate hemostasis are indicated. The authors describe both the advantages and the disadvantages of each of the hemostatic agents used. Unsolved problems are highlighted, and ways of improving the properties of hemostatic implants are outlined, taking into account the developments that have been started and the advancement of nanotechnology.
