Carbon (II) oxide (carbon monoxide) and methane (natural gas) are among the toxic and explosive components of atmospheric air. According to statistical data, over the last decade deaths from carbon (II) oxide poisoning have been approaching 25% of those who die from acute poisoning. For this reason, the creation of a new generation of gas-sensitive semiconductor materials and, on their basis, of selective semiconductor gas sensors and alarms that make it possible to determine the amount of carbon (II) oxide and methane in atmospheric air and in technological and waste gases is considered one of the important tasks.
